A survey finds that South Korea and China are the most positive about nuclear power generation despite Japan’s recent radiation leaks at its Fukushima nuclear power plant.
The pollster WIN-Gallup International recently conducted a survey on about 34-thousand people in 47 countries on their views regarding nuclear power generation.
According to the results, 64 percent of the Korean respondents expressed positive views on nuclear power generation, while 70 percent of Chinese people responded optimistically. However, 90 percent of Austrians were negative.
In Japan, 62 percent responded positively before the Fukushima incident, but the figure plunged to 39 percent after the radiation leaks. Pessimistic respondents were a mere ten percent before the incident, but the figure jumped to 24 percent after.
The survey was conducted between March 21st through April tenth via the phone or an interview.
There were about one-thousand Korean respondents for this study.
