North Korea claims that the United States missile defense system (MDS) could trigger a new nuclear arms race.

North Korean Ambassador to the United Nations Sin Son-ho said Wednesday in a U.N. disarmament forum that the U.S. aims to take absolute nuclear superiority over other countries and retain global leadership with its MDS.

Sin added that the U.S. has no moral justification to blame other countries for proliferation of nuclear weapons.

The ambassador's comments precede high-level talks that will be held between a North Korean delegation led by Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-kwan and U.S. officials at the U.S. Mission to the U.N. on Thursday and Friday in New York City.
