Lebanese Military Officials, Celebrities to Visit S.Korea

The South Korean military contingent serving as U.N. peacekeepers in Lebanon has invited Lebanese celebrities and military officials to visit Korea for two weeks from Friday.

An official of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said a group of roughly ten Lebanese celebrities, including a famous pop opera singer, will tour cultural facilities, including the Gyeongbok Palace, and high-security locations including the Joint Security Area of Panmunjeom near the inter-Korean border.

The Lebanese military officials who assisted the 350-strong Dongmyeong Unit carry out their missions and five Lebanese reporters will accompany the group.

The Dongmyeong Unit marked its fourth anniversary of operating in Lebanon on July 19th. It paved a road with asphalt last Saturday that the locals named “Korean Road.” The unit also holds Korean language and taekwondo classes.
