A South Korean project to build an international airport near the well-known Halong Bay resort in Vietnam has received a boost.

Vietnam’s media, including the Economic Times, quoted a government source to say that Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved of the Van Don airport project on July 20th. It has been jointly pushed by the South Korean consortium of resort developer Joinus and the Korea Airports Corporation.

If the negotiations continue as planned, the Korean consortium will begin first-phase construction on overall airport facilities including a runway, airport terminals and hangars.
