Presidential Aide to Discuss N.Korea, FTA Issues in DC

Presidential senior secretary for foreign affairs and national security Chun Young-woo departs Seoul Tuesday for a four-day trip to Washington DC. He plans to discuss the North Korean nuclear issue and current bilateral matters regarding the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement (FTA)

Chun will reportedly meet with National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns, Special Representative for North Korea Policy Stephen Bosworth, and the deputy secretary of defense. He reportedly plans to focus on coordination for resuming the six-party talks.

Chun is reportedly planning to monitor the likelihood of the pending South Korea-U.S. trade pact’s passage in the legislature of both nations, after which he will discuss follow-up measures to the effectuation of the FTA.
