Samsung Banned from Selling Galaxy Tab 10.1 in EU

A German regional court has banned Samsung Electronics from selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet personal computer (PC) in the European Union.

The Regional Court of Düsseldorf on Wednesday granted Apple a preliminary injunction against the sale and marketing of Samsung’s newest tablet PC in the EU. The action does not apply to the Netherlands, where Apple has issued a separate complaint.

By granting the injunction, the court has supported Apple's claims that Samsung’s tablet PC had infringed on its intellectual property.

According to British daily, The Telegraph, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 became the fastest-selling tablet since the iPad 2 when it launched in Britain last week.

The daily said though Samsung can appeal against the court’s recent decision, "the injunction will still stand in the meantime." The report said that “any appeal would be heard in around four weeks' time and would be heard by the same judge.”
