Obama Repeatedly Mentions Popularity of Korean Cars in US

U.S. President Barack Obama has repeatedly mentioned the strong popularity of South Korean cars in the U.S. while underlining the need for Congress to ratify a pending free trade agreement with South Korea.

During a bus tour in Iowa on Tuesday, Obama said there are people in America driving Kias and Hyundais. He said he wants to see people in South Korea driving Fords, Chryslers and Chevys.

He said the U.S. should “pass trade deals that will level the playing field for American companies," adding that no one benefits more than the rural Americans when it comes to U.S. trade.

Obama’s recent remarks come after his mention of strong U.S. sales of Hyundai and Kia cars during a speech in Minnesota earlier on Monday and in Michigan last Thursday.
