Photos of Top K-Pop Stars Appear in Japanese Auxiliary Textbook

An auxiliary textbook that Japanese high school students use during English classes has included photographs and descriptions of top Korean pop (K-Pop) stars.

Japanese publishing company, Pearson Kirihara, introduced top K-Pop singers in two pages in an auxiliary textbook for English classes for high school freshmen.

In the two pages, the publishing company said K-Pop stars are expected to take over the world, adding that such celebrities undergo three to four years of singing and dancing lessons and study foreign languages, including English and Chinese.

The book included photographs of Girls’ Generation and 2NE1 as well as 2PM.

Unlike English textbooks that are published after being authorized by the government, auxiliary textbooks for English reading classes are selected freely by the teachers.
