Foreign embassies in North Korea have decided to remain in Pyongyang despite warnings from North Korean authorities that their safety cannot be guaranteed.
The German Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Saturday saying that the government is keeping an eye on the situation concerning the German embassy in Pyongyang and it has decided the current state of affairs does not yet call for a withdrawal of its diplomatic staff.
The spokesperson of the U.K’s Foreign Office also said in a commentary that the North’s warnings were just an extension of its bellicose rhetoric and that it will not shut down its diplomatic mission in Pyongyang.
Switzerland, which represents the concerns of the United States in North Korea, France and Brazil have also said they will not withdraw from the isolated country.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry said they are looking into shutting its doors in Pyongyang amid growing tension while Russian state media said Russian authorities are also doing the same.
