Concerns are rising Japan may seek to distort history further as it aims to revise a clause of its textbook authorization standards.

The Japanese government announced on Wednesday that it will modify the so-called "Neighboring Country Clause,” saying it lacks in instilling patriotism to students.

The clause worked to mitigate Japan's historical distortions following South Korea and China's opposition to Japanese school textbooks in 1982.
