G8 Warns N. Korea Missile Launch will Bring Tougher Sanctions

The foreign ministers of the G8 countries have strongly condemned North Korea after wrapping up a two-day meeting in London.

In a joint statement, the ministers condemned “in the strongest possible terms” the development of North Korea’s nuclear weapons program and ballistic missiles.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague told reporters after the meeting that G8 nations have committed themselves to take further measures if North Korea carries out another missile launch or nuclear test.

The foreign ministers also shared the international community’s view that the North’s threats of war and provocations have reached a dangerous level.

They said military threats will only further isolate the North from the international community, urging Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear weapons and missiles and engage in dialogue with the international community.
