The international hacking group Anonymous claims it began cyber attacks on North Korea’s major Web sites on Tuesday morning.
Anonymous said on its Twitter account that it hacked into dozens of North Korean sites and brought them down, using the expression “tango down.”
The group said it targeted the Web sites of North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency, the Workers’ Party’s Rodong Sinmun newspaper, the portal “Naenara” and the radio station, Pyongyang Broadcasting Station.
South Korea’s National Intelligence Service says that, currently, access to those Web sites is not good.
The spy agency couldn't confirm whether the North Korean Web sites were hacked or not, because some of them were inaccessible before Anonymous had announced its plan to attack them.
Anonymous announced on Monday its plan to hack into North Korea's major Web sites on June 25, which marks the 63th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War.
The international hacking group also said it would disclose North Korea’s internal confidential military documents.
