Korean Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Russian Airport

A Korean Air passenger plane flying from Seoul to Chicago was forced to make an emergency landing at a Russian airport on Tuesday due to an engine problem.

Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency said the plane and its 273 passengers landed safely at Anadyr Airport in the administrative center of Chukotka, Russia around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The plane’s captain said he requested an emergency landing after oil pressure in the plane’s left engine fell sharply.

A Korean Air official said an engine malfunction was at fault.

Korean Air swiftly sent a group of technicians and engine parts from Seoul aboard a Boeing 747 to the Russian airport.
