Pilots Union Takes Issue With NTSB Release of Info. on Asiana Crash

The Air Line Pilots Association International has taken issue with the data released by National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) concerning its probe on the crash of Asian Air Flight 214 in San Francisco.

The largest pilots union in the world said in a statement it “is stunned by the amount of detailed operational data from on-board recorders” that the NTSB has released this early in the investigation.

It added that the amount of data released publicly during the field portion of the accident investigation is unprecedented.

In response to the association’s statement, NTSB chief, Deborah Hersman said that transparency is one of the crucial factors of her agency’s investigations. She added her agency has standards in terms of inspection sites of accidents and briefing on their findings.
