The Korea Meteorological Administration says Typhoon Kong-Rey was moving 25 kilometers per hour north-northwest Friday morning toward Jeju Island and the southern part of the Korean Peninsula.

It's expected to reach Jeju Island bringing winds and rain at around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Forecasters say it will pass through Busan around noon before exiting the Korean Peninsula toward the East Sea.

The government is activating its Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and has instructed regions in the storm's path to take precautionary measures.
