Heavy Rains to Hit Nation Wednesday, Thursday

Cloudy skies are forecast for the nation on Wednesday and Thursday, with heavy rains expected for many parts of the nation.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, 50 to 120 millimeters of rain is expected for the central and southern regions until Thursday, with heavy downpours of over 150 millimeters likely to hit some areas.

The eastern parts of Gangwon Province are expected to see 30 to 80 millimeters, while Jeju Island is likely to have 30 to 100 millimeters.

Torrential rains of 30 to 60 millimeters per hour are expected to pound the capital region, the western parts of Gangwon Province, Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces and Jeju Island on Wednesday, with strong winds forecast for coastal areas of Jeolla and Jeju.

Afternoon highs are expected to reach 27 to 33 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, down one to four degrees from Tuesday.
