Anchor: The roster is finally set for next month’s Seoul mayoral by-election with the pan-opposition choosing Oh Se-hoon as its candidate against Park Young-sun of the progressive block. Running for the office he gave up some ten years ago, Oh dubbed the April 7 election a Judgement Day for the ruling camp. Meanwhile, the ruling Democratic Party's Park said Oh only represents old politics of failure.
Kim Bum-soo wrapped up the latest development.

"For the April 7 Seoul mayoral by-election, People Power Party's Oh Se-hoon will represent the pan-opposition."

Former Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon of the main opposition People Power Party defeated former presidential candidate Ahn Cheol-soo of the People’s Party in an opinion poll the two sides jointly commissioned to field a single candidate.

As he was named the pan-opposition candidate for Seoul mayor Tuesday morning, Oh delivered a victory speech, calling for Ahn's help in his campaign down the road.

"I have lived with a heavy heart over the last ten years. I would like to slowly unload this heavy burden in my heart and ask for your support until the day of the election so I can give you back a new Seoul city that will move forward once again."
"I would also like to offer my consolation and gratitude to candidate Ahn Cheol-soo. We may have wrestled each other to field a single candidate. But I ask you for your support in the war against the ruling camp leading up to Judgment Day."

In a much-criticized decision some ten years ago, Oh resigned from the position of Seoul mayor after his controversial campaign failed to end the then-liberal opposition’s push for free lunches for all 810-thousand elementary and middle school students.

Oh’s now facing another formidable heavyweight. Speaking to reporters Tuesday, former SME minister and four-term lawmaker Park Young-sun of the ruling Democratic Party(DP) said her rival will only fall in to an old rut of political failure.

"Now the stage is set. I think that it all boils down to the choice of Seoul's futureMayor Park Young-sun, or a relapse to a failed mayor of the past."
"After our fierce political campaign, I will form a team with [my former] rival Kim Jin-ai and draw up bold measures."

The lineup is finally set with for the by-elections in capital Seoul and the nation's second-largest city of Busan due in about two weeks.

The two cities go to polls after former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon committed suicide amid sexual harassment allegations involving his secretary last year, and as former Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don stepped down just three months before that, confessing to sexual misconduct with his staff.

The winner of the Seoul election will serve for the 14 months left in late Mayor Park's four-year term.
