Fall Skincare Tips
The temperatures are falling and it’s that time of the year when we should revamp our skincare regimen. Today I’m going to introduce the top five tips to keep your skin hydrated and under control during the colder months ahead.

Double up on moisturizer
First up, it is vitally important to change skincare products according to the season. During the colder months, our skin is left vulnerable to various unwanted skin woes such as excessive dryness, roughness, redness, and itchiness. Among these problems, dryness is often the biggest skin concern for many. To combat dryness, the first thing you want to do is to double up on moisturizer. Go through your skincare collection, and switch out any lightweight water-based lotions for thicker oil-based creams loaded with skin-enhancing nutrients. Opt for vitamin-rich serums and richer creams that help restore the skin’s elasticity. After cleansing the face, apply a good quality toner to help refresh your skin and then use double the amount of moisturizer you normally would. Then, let the moisturizer sink completely by lightly patting the skin for better absorption.

Switch to creamier cleansers
During the colder months, it is important to cleanse properly using mild, creamy cleansers that rinse completely leaving no residue yet still boosting the skin’s moisture levels. Replace your gel cleanser for an oil-based creamier cleanser that doesn’t strip your face of its natural oils. Using a creamy cleanser will add an extra layer of protection and moisture, helping the skin seal in its natural moisture.

Use suncreen
Wear sunscreen rain or shine! Our skin needs protection from the harmful UV rays of the sun even during the colder months and we should not neglect the importance of wearing sunblock dutifully everyday as the last step of your morning skincare routine. To downsize your skincare routine, instead of you using a separate sunscreen, you can opt for foundations, tinted moisturizers, BB creams, CC creams and/or primers that contain sunscreen in them and still give your skin the protection it needs.

Exfoliate properly
Don’t forget to treat yourself to a day of renewal at least once a week by exfoliating the skin properly. Without exfoliation, the dead cells may build up, making the skin to look dull and less radiant. During the fall and winter months, it is important not to over-exfoliate the skin, as excessive exfoliation can leave already dry skin feeling rough and irritated. Opt for a gentle exfoliator that effectively removes build up on the skin. Dermatologists recommend choosing cream based or lotion based extra mild products containing oils and organic ingredients like oat meal.

Drink enough water
It’s simple: drink plenty of water! Remember, the real beauty starts from within. Carry a water bottle with you when you are on the go and try to drink at least eight cups of water a day. During the colder months, you may not feel thirsty as often, but make a conscious effort to drink more water regularly throughout the day to ensure that your skin is hydrated from within.
