Skirt Trends for Winter 2015
Winter is fast approaching and it’s time to update your look in time for the new season. Among other winter fashion essentials, the skirt is a must-have for every woman this coming season—and today I’m going to introduce the hottest skirt trends topping the trend charts at the moment.

* Warm Skirts
First up, warm skirts made with fabrics such as wool, cashmere, suede, velvet, and tweed were seen everywhere on the runways for Fall/Winter 2015. Soft, elegant, and extremely feminine, warm skirts made with quality fabrics are the perfect way to add some personality and style to your wardrobe. In particular, interesting variations such as maxi wool skirts in neutral colors such as beiges, creams, whites, greys, and blacks, high-waisted midi tweed skirts, velvety-soft suede skirts, and carwash pleated skirts (which refer to the kind of skirts featuring separated pleats that look like the top curtain at a car wash) made with wool or wool blends are among the designers’ favorites. For the office, swap your everyday cotton skirt for a seasonally appropriate skirt made with warm fabric and instantly update your look. Opt for a maxi beige wool skirt and team it up with a knit sweater in the similar shade as the skirt and create a tone-on-tone look. Complete the look with a pair of ankle boots and you have a stylish winter outfit.

* Pleats & Frills
Next, skirts decorated with frills, fringes, pleats, and ruffles are extremely hot this season. A chic and feminine way to update your wardrobe this winter, pleated skirts and those decorated with frills are trending at the moment. When it comes to pleats and frills, designers are offering numerous options in terms of the use of materials—everything from lightweight polyester and satin to the soft and warm wool and velvet. To update your look in time for the new season ahead, pick up a grey-colored, high-waisted pleated skirt featuring a cinched waistline that creates a gently sculptural silhouette. Team up the skirt with something as casual and plain as a black turtleneck sweater and let the skirt stand out.

* Maxis
Lastly, as for the skirt length of the season, maxis are definitely having their moment. A nod to the 70’s, designers and fashionistas are fully embracing the maxi style when it comes to skirts this winter, giving us an excuse to wear the trend. As seen on the runways, many of the industry’s top designers decorated their Fall/Winter collections with floor length skirts executed in rich hues such as deep reds and burgundies to electric blues and simple black. Interesting variations of maxis—everything from pleats and those adorned with asymmetrical ruffles to warm wool skirts, tweeds, and maxis featuring uneven hem are some of the hottest looks for winter. Choose your favorite design and channel the bohemian and casual winter look.

Rock skirts more often this winter and stay stylish!
