As any fashionista knows, well-groomed and manicured nails can change your image and give you a lift, adding a bit of girly glam to your look. To keep you looking chic and trendy, today I’m going to introduce the hottest nail trends of the season.

Colored tips
One hot nail look you’ll want to rock this season is the French manicure look with colored tips. Think of the French manicure with a little twist—instead of the same old pink nail bed with white tips, now it’s colored tips. One extremely chic look spotted on the runways in New York Fashion Week was the French mani with silver nail tips. To get the look, paint the tips with a good quality silver polish and paint the base with clear polish. To add more drama, you can add gold polish at the base near the cuticles. If you are not such a big fan of metallic colors, don’t worry—as coloring the tips in any color is a hot nail art trend at the moment. Paint the tips in any color you want and leave the rest of the nail nude or you can paint the tips over the already colored nails. Cute pairings include red tips with clear nail bed, electric blue tips with soft pink nail bed and nude nails accented with gold tips.

Mix and match nails
The possibilities are limitless when it comes to nail art—and mixed nails are still “in” this season. Instead of painting every nail in the same color, opt for at least one accent nail on both hands. Burgundy or maroon nails with silver glitter accent nails—one on each hand—is a chic look. From the runways, we’ve seen a bunch of mix-and-match manis—experiment with interesting variations by mixing it up among patterns, solid-painted, geometric shapes, negative spaces, etc. and flaunt your fashion sense!

Half-moons
Another hot nail look is the half-moon nail art also called “reverse French”—with the half-moon or cuticle of the nails painted. Cuticles can be painted in any color of your choice over unpainted colors, finished with a clear polish or they can be painted in contrasting colors over already painted nails. For instance, red half-moon nails paired with nude base or black half-moon nails teamed with clear white base can look extremely chic. To do a more dramatic half-moon mani, opt for silver or gold half-moons paired with stark black polish.

Darker hues
According to fashion magazines, neons are officially out when it comes to nail art trends of the season. Winter is the chance to rock richer colors. Ditch pastels and opt for deep, bold reds, violets, midnight blacks, and deep blues. Remember, dark nails are the perfect complement to monochrome outfits. When sporting an all-white or an all-beige outfit, opt for deep burgundy nails and instantly add that pizzazz to your overall look.
