Denim-on-Denim Looks for Spring 2016
Spring is here and it’s time for a style update! Today I’m going to introduce tips on how to rock the “double denim” look—a hot trend that’s here to stay this spring.

It’s the season of denim. When it comes to denim trends, double denim or the denim-on-denim look is still “in” this season. Double denim—once considered a fashion curse for some—looks like it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, with designers embracing the style. While some consider it a fashion “don’t,” double denim is worn by so many models, celebrities, and bloggers, proving once again that when done right, the trend can inject a dose of whimsy and fun into your everyday wardrobe. From a denim jacket paired with a maxi denim skirt, simple skinny jeans teamed with a denim button down, denim overalls paired with a denim blazer—the outfit ideas are endless.

The trick to getting the look right is in the pieces you choose. To rock the look, consider combining a variety of denim essentials in one outfit—everything from denim button downs, denim jackets, distressed blue jeans to a denim skirt and a pair of faded denim shorts—all of which are forever stylish. For a more “full-on” look, you can totally be “matchy-matchy” and go for the same wash of jean on the top and the bottom. For casual outings, instead of doing a denim shirt and white denim combo, opt for a denim shirt teamed up with a pair of matching jeans in the similar shade as the top—and inject a sporty 90s vibe into your spring look.

When rocking the jean-on-jean fashion, don’t forget to mix and match bold accessories to punch up your look. Opt for layered bangles, rings, and statement necklaces and instantly add some bling to the outfit.

If you are not too sure about being too “matchy-matchy,” try varying the shade and the type of denim paired together. For instance, a light washed blue denim blazer can be worn with dark blue, black or grey jeans. You can also do it the other way around—and opt for dark denim shirts or jackets on the top and lighter denim on the bottom, depending on your preference. But as a general rule of thumb, darker colors are more slimming on the bottom, creating an illusion to your proportions. For a date out on the town, opt for a dark pair of jeans and wear it teamed up with a lighter denim button down. Top off the look with a pair of gold pumps and layered bangles, and you have a lovely spring outfit.

Pair your favorite denims together in one outfit and stay chic!
