Agains the Wind - Jeon Yoo-jin

Nobody's perfect.
We use that excuse on ourselves many times.

But we're not so lenient when it comes to allowing others to be the beneficiary of this timeless idiom.

Especially when it comes to relationships.

We do have a tendency to come up with excuses.

Ha Jeong-woo plays the male lead
The movie starts off as a scene or a chapter
from the male writer's novel, a work in progress.
a work that has been in progress for a long time.

Even his female characters have doubts about
what he writes about the female psyche.

He has very little experience in love and relationships.

Just one of the many reasons why he has been suffering from a writer's block.
Friends suggest falling in love again, for the first time in a long while.

Or perhaps... just simply for the first time as it might fuel his creative drive.

Interesting bits are the flashbacks of the writer's past.

He was very mature for someone his age when he was a kid.

But that can come across as being bizarre or perverted.
The fine print is... act your age,,, or you will become an outcast

Perhaps something the director was trying to hint at.

Things take a turn for the better for our writer... when he meets a girl... who grew up in Alaska

SONG BREAK: Alaska - Ha Jeong-woo

The girl of Ha Jeong-woo's character's dreams
is played by Gong Hyo-jin..

They meet by chance and he is smitten by her!

He is extremely awkward around girls.
Not the most suave dater.
But she is different.

BG: Know(Letter to Alaska) - Jeon Yoo-jin

She looks beyond the exterior
and she is extremely direct and cuts to the chase.
Another reason for him to love her.

But as time progresses,
he finds flaws... and more reasons not to be with her

We did mention she's from Alaska...
and apparently,,. according to her,..
they do not shave their underarms..

And that bushiness really should have been a hint for him to decide
if he can go on with this relationship.

Sometimes, we see the signs... that say DANGER
or NOT SUITABLE for YOU!!!
But we ignore them and later use them as weapons for breaking up with someone.

Initially he loves her even for all the fur in the pits.

But how fickle and frivolous love can be.

Basically the story's the opposite of what you've experienced in
the movie I've reviewed last week, Architecture 101!

I send you off with a song that's a little different from the hue and ambience of the entire movie, but it is played at the right time.
