Christoper Charles is an American teacher of English in Seoul who is a student and performer of jangguu (hourglass-shaped drum) and samulnori (traditional four-piece percussion ensemble).

A former American soldier who served around two years in Korea, Charles says he has adopted patterns learned from his courses at the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts to the Western-style drums, which he has played for more than 20 years.
