Roar Sheppard is the director of a Sun meditation center that opened a month ago in the heart of downtown Seoul. Sheppard, originally from San Francisco has studied Korean meditiation and health culture for about 10 years. As Zen is to Japan, Sun is indigenous to Korea. It focuses on the three basic concepts of deep breathing, meditation and practice in everyday life. According to Sun ideology, deep breathing helps one to understand personal divinity and the nature around you. There are two schools for foreigners: one in the heart of Insadong and the other is in the mountains of Suji in the southern part of Seoul. The school includes a three part program based on the five elements and sun tradition.
Sun ideology believes that flexibility of the body is connected to flexibility of the mind.
