Ms. Ursula Mayes, Korean-American model and actress

2007-02-23

Ms. Mayes came to Seoul recently with her mother, Lee Mi-hee.

During her short stay of five days here in Korea, the 27-year-old model participated in charity events to help biracial children in need in Korea.

Mayes said that she is very proud of her Korean roots, attributing her success to her mother.

Mayes grew up in Korea until the age of six while her German-American father worked as a U.S. soldier stationed here.

Later her family moved to the U.S., but after her father died more than 20 years ago, her mother had to take care Mayes and her two siblings.

I met with her at the Pearl Buck Foundation in Buchon, Gyonggi Province, where she met with scores of biracial children and bonded with them.

Let's listen to the story of Ms. Mayes and her mother, their past, present and future.
