Two Koreans Isolated in China due to Fevers

Two Koreans have been isolated in a Beijing airport over fears that they may be infected with H1N1 influenza.

The South Korean Embassy in Beijing said a 26-year-old and a 17-year-old who arrived in Beijing on Monday on an Asiana Airlines flight failed thermal scanner screenings upon arrival and were sent to isolation wards in Beijing’s Tiantan Hospital.

An official from the embassy said their initial H1N1 tests came back negative and their temperatures came down to normal overnight. They will stay hospitalized up to three more days before being discharged.

Meanwhile, seven other Koreans with fevers had also been isolated, but were released after inspection.

China reported its first confirmed case of H1N1 influenza on Monday.
