S.Korean Killed in Kenya

A South Korean businessman residing in Nairobi was shot and killed around three a.m. on Tuesday, local time.

According to the Foreign Ministry and the Korean community in Kenya on Wednesday, the 51-year-old man, identified only by his surname Yoo, was heading home from a casino in Nairobi when he was assaulted by three men.

A Foreign Ministry official said Yoo was immediately transferred to the hospital but died shortly after arrival.

The official said Yoo is likely to have been a victim of a robbery. Local police are cooperating with the South Korean Embassy in Kenya regarding the details of the investigation.

The ministry has urged Koreans residing in Kenya to exercise extra caution since a growing number of robberies have been reported in the east African country.
