Anti-NK Group to Attend Oslo Freedom Forum

Chairman Park Sang-hak of the civic group “Fighters For Free North Korea” will speak about North Korea's human rights conditions at the Oslo Freedom Forum.

Fighters For Free North Korea has led the recent circulation of anti-North leaflets in South Korea.

Leaving for Norway on Saturday, Park said he believes he was invited due to his group's leaflet dissemination activities. He said his Wednesday speech at the forum will urge the end of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's dictatorship and the freeing of North Korean people. He will also ask that global attention be given to human rights conditions in the North.

Some 70 freedom, democracy and human rights activists will attend the forum hosted by the New York-based Human Rights Foundation. Guests include former Czech President and symbol of the nation's democratization Vaclav Havel, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel and China’s anti-government activist Harry Wu.

The forum will be held Monday through Wednesday.
