IPI Urges Swift Release of 2 US Reporters

The International Press Institute (IPI) has adopted a resolution urging North Korea to swiftly release two American journalists detained in the North.

In the resolution adopted before closing the general session on Tuesday, the institute added that the two reporters were taken into custody while reporting on North Korean residents trying to escape the most repressive country in the world.

North Korea sentenced Laura Ling and Euna Lee to 12 years of forced labor on Monday.

The two reporters of San Francisco-based Current TV were detained by North Korea on March 17th while filming a documentary along the North's border with China.
