A delegation from the U.S. Department of Defense will visit South Korea, China and Japan next week to discuss recent North Korean provocations.

The department says the team, led by U.S. Undersecretary of Defense Michele Flournoy, will first visit China on Tuesday, then Japan on Thursday and South Korea on Friday.

The delegation’s visit to Seoul comes on the heels of last week’s summit between presidents Lee Myung-bak and Barack Obama in Washington, in which they adopted a joint vision on bilateral cooperation.

A senior department official said Flournoy will hold extensive talks with her South Korean counterparts for an action plan on the joint vision.

Prior to that, the U.S. will hold its tenth defense advisory meeting with China and the first since the Obama administration took office. Policies on North Korea, including how to implement the U.N. sanctions resolution on the North, are expected to be the key agenda.
