US, Australia Vow to Implement UN Sanctions Against NK

U.S. President Barack Obama and Australia’s Prime Minister Kevin Rudd discussed North Korea and climate change via telephone.

The White House said in a statement Wednesday that the two leaders discussed Pyongyang’s nuclear issue, including ways the countries can work together to ensure full implementation of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1874, which sanctions the North for carrying out a second nuclear test on May 25th.

Meanwhile, the State Department said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton held telephone discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about ways to fully implement new U.N. sanctions against the North.
