Senior US Official Heads to China to Discuss Sanctions on NK

The U.S. Treasury Department says that its undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence will visit China to discuss imposing financial sanctions on North Korea for its latest nuclear test and missile launches.

Stuart Levey will leave Washington Tuesday for a four-day stay in China and Hong Kong.
He will meet with Chinese officials during the visit, which ends on Friday.

A U.S. delegation visited China last week for talks on implementing U.N. Security Council sanctions against North Korea.

The delegation was led by Philip Goldberg, the State Department's point man on coordinating implementation of the sanctions.

Senior U.S. officials' visits to China indicate that Washington is pursuing a freeze on North Korean assets in China, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
