Oil Prices Plunge, WTI Down to $62 per Barrel

Global oil prices recorded a six-week low as prices fell for the fifth straight day on concerns about the U.S. economy and energy demand.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday, West Texas Intermediate for August delivery fell one dollar and 12 cents from Monday to close at 62 dollars and 93 cents a barrel.

On the London market, Brent North Sea crude for August delivery also fell 91 cents, or one-point-four percent, to 63 dollars and 14 cents a barrel.

Global oil prices reached a yearly high of 73 dollars and 38 cents on June 30th before plunging 14 percent over the past week.

The decreases are attributed to concerns about slow economic recovery in the U.S. and weak energy demand.
