Bloomberg: China Agrees to Sanctioning NK Officials

Bloomberg News says China has agreed to impose sanctions on top North Korean officials.

The report comes as the international community continues to discuss the implementation of a new U.N. sanctions resolution on North Korea.

The report cited China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations as saying that Beijing will support Washington's proposal to slap a travel ban on some North Korean officials and freeze their assets.

It's the first time for China to consent to sanctions on North Korean individuals.

But Bloomberg said the Chinese ambassador did not name the target officials.

Meanwhile Turkey, current chair of the U.N. Security Council, said the council’s 15 member states will soon meet to discuss which North Korean businesses and products will be sanctioned.
