Newsweek has introduced Seoul as a global city where history and cutting-edge technology are integrated.

In its recent edition, the U.S. weekly magazine said the South Korean capital city is transforming into a global city of design where the past, present and future co-exist.

The report included photographs of the new Gwanghwamun Plaza, Gyeongbok Palace, the Bukchon Hanok Village and the Prada Transformer building.

In particular, the magazine noted that the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) selected Seoul as the winner of the World Design Capital 2010 competition.

Newsweek plans on issuing articles centered on Seoul in two more editions.
