Hyundai, Kia See Sales Rise in US Market

Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors were found to be among the few automakers who saw their sales rise in the U.S. market last month.

U.S. and Japanese automakers witnessed their sales decline amid a drop in demand after the U.S. government concluded its Car Allowance Rebate System in late August.

Hyundai Motor America said Friday that Hyundai sold some 31-thousand units in the U.S. last month, up more than 27 percent from the same period last year.

Kia Motors said it sold some 21-thousand units during the same period, up more than 24 percent from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, General Motors saw its sales drop 45 percent and Chrysler 42 percent in September, while Japan’s Toyota saw sales slide nearly 13 percent, Honda 20 percent and Nissan seven percent during the same period.
