New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has attended the 29th annual parade of Korean culture in New York's Manhattan district Saturday.

The event featured the Korean turtle-shaped warship, a Baekje Dynasty mask, and demonstrations of the Korean martial art taekwondo.

Bloomberg took part in a street march and the cooking of 500 servings of the Korean mixed rice dish "bibimbab," or spicy mixed vegetables and rice.

Some 5,000 people from 200 organizations participated in the two-hour parade that took place along 6th Avenue and between 24th and 41st streets.

The march led by the city's mounted police officers showcased the turtle ship and a Korean royal procession, and was funded by the Seoul City Hall.

The Korean parade is one of five major street parades in the Big Apple.
