North Korea has rejected the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1887 on nuclear non-proliferation, which was adopted to create a "world free of nuclear weapons."

In the official letter to the U.N. Security Council dated October first, North Korea's U.N. ambassador Sin Son-ho said the North will not give up nuclear weapons unless world nuclear powers give up theirs.

The letter also said Pyongyang will link its efforts on denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula to U.S. policies towards North Korea.

The letter was delivered before Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s visit to the communist country this week.

Last week, a North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman announced that Pyongyang had completely rejected Resolution 1887, criticizing that it had only listed unilateral demands of countries with the most nuclear weapons.

The spokesman said North Korea cannot consider giving up a nuclear deterrent unless fundamental nuclear threats are removed.
