China Wins Rights to Develop N.Korea’s Rajin Port

China has gained rights to develop the wharf of North Korea’s Rajin Port.

As a result, China’s plan to develop its northeastern region and to advance into the North Korean market will gain momentum.

An official from Hunchun City in China’s Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture said a Chinese developer gained the exclusive development rights and will renovate and expand Rajin's first wharf.

The Dalian-based developer said it has already gained approval from the North Korean government and is waiting for the Chinese government's permission.

It added that construction will begin soon as the North is hurrying to develop the port.
