US Still Assessing NK Missile Launch

The United States has yet to officially comment on whether North Korea’s Monday launch of five short-range missiles violated U.N. resolutions.

A State Department official told reporters Wednesday that the department must first determine the type of missiles that were launched in order to assess whether the North violated U.N. Security Council resolutions.

Assistant Secretary of State Philip Crowley told reporters in a daily press briefing that the launch doesn't change U.S. goals concerning Pyongyang, stressing that North Korea must eventually return to the six-way nuclear talks and recommit toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
