KOTRA Eyeing Chinese Inland Markets

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) is looking to make inroads into the western part of China.

KOTRA opened on Friday a Korean product exhibition at the tenth 2009 Western China International Economy and Trade Fair, which is currently under way in Chengdu City.

Seventy six Korean small to mid-sized companies are taking part in the four-day exhibition, showcasing their products in five categories: high-end consumer goods, green architecture, Korean food, information technology and electronics, and global healthcare.

KOTRA President Cho Hwan-eik says he expects to sign export and trade investment deals worth some 100 million dollars with the 500 companies from all over China in attendance.

A number of Chinese leaders, including Premier Wen Jiabao, are also attending the trade fair to mark the 60th anniversary of the nation’s founding.
