A U.S. congressman says North Korea is using Myanmar as a base for arms deals.

During a U.S. House Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Wednesday, Republican representative Edward Royce named five reasons why Myanmer poses a threat to U.S. security.

Royce said North Korea is using ports and small airfields in Myanmar to transfer arms and other banned products. He also said that a major North Korean arms company is actively operating in the Southeast Asian country.

Kurt Campbell, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, has also expressed deep concern about military cooperation between North Korea and Myanmar.
