NK Will Adhere to Joint Denuclearization Statement

North Korea says it could return to the six-party nuclear talks, depending on the results of a potential bilateral meeting with the United States.

The North made the remark during the Northeast Asia Cooperation Dialogue (NEACD) in San Diego, which ended Wednesday.

North Korea also said that it will remain true to the September 19th joint statement on nuclear dismantlement.

A Russian delegate to the NEACD relayed the North’s stances, saying that Pyongyang is preparing to return to the multilateral nuclear talks and that it wants the U.S. to abandon its so-called hostile attitude.

The Russian delegate predicted that the North is unlikely to give up its nuclear weapons before it receives tangible results, such as a security guarantee and official recognition of its regime.
