US: Contact with NK was Very Useful

The United States says the meeting it held with North Korea in New York and San Diego last week was very useful.

In a Monday news briefing, State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said nuclear negotiator Sung Kim from the U.S. and North Korean ambassador Ri Gun had useful discussions on moving closer to resuming the six-party nuclear talks and denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.

But Kelly said the U.S is still considering whether to accept an invitation North Korea made to Ambassador Stephen Bosworth for a visit to the North.

A high-level diplomatic source says the U.S. will likely reach a decision on whether it will hold bilateral talks with Pyongyang after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton returns home from an overseas tour this week.
