Improved Ties Vitalize China's Tours to NK Border

A growing number of Chinese tourists are traveling to the Dandong region’s border area with North Korea.

The DanDong Daily said Tuesday that the average daily number of Chinese tourists visiting the port city’s border with North Korea has topped 100 since Chinese National Day on October first.

The average daily number of such tourists had only stood at between ten and 20 during the summer, when tensions were running high between China and North Korea following Pyongyang’s nuclear test on May 25th.

Chinese people can only visit the border region with North Korea in Dandong and the North’s border city of Sinuiju if they submit their identification cards and are issued a one-day pass.
