Top Nuke Envoy to Visit US Thursday

The nation’s top nuclear negotiator will visit the United States on Thursday to discuss ways to re-launch the six-way nuclear talks.

During his three-day say, Wi Sung-lac will meet with U.S. special representative for North Korea policy Stephen Bosworth and top U.S. nuclear envoy Sung Kim. The U.S. officials are expected to explain to Wi the results of a series of U.S-North Korea contacts held last week in the U.S.

The officials are also expected to fine-tune views on North Korea’s nuclear issue and discuss ways to come up with a package to settle Pyongyang’s nuclear standoff.

Wi’s visit comes as the leaders of South Korea and the U.S. are scheduled to hold a summit on November 18th.

After wrapping up his trip in the U.S., Wi will travel to Japan on Monday to meet with his Japanese counterpart Akitaka Saiki.
