US is Willing to have Bilateral Contact with NK

The U.S. is reviewing whether it will meet bilaterally with North Korea.

Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters that Washington is willing to accept North Korea-proposed bilateral contact if the interactions are within the framework of the six-party nuclear talks and help resume the stalled multilateral nuclear negotiations.

But Kelly declined to elaborate on the contents and substance of the talks the U.S. has had with North Korea last week in the U.S.

Foreign Policy Magazine reported Tuesday that the U.S. and the North had agreed to hold two rounds of bilateral contact before restarting the six-way nuclear talks and also agreed on a meeting between U.S. special representative for North Korea policy Stephen Bosworth and the North's First Vice Foreign Minister Kang Sok-ju.
