S.Korea, China and Japan to Cooperate on Product Standards

South Korea, China and Japan will draw up common standards for goods used by senior citizens.

The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards said the three countries agreed on stronger cooperation in standardizing products for seniors during a regional standardization forum held in China last week.

The standardization will begin with items such as movable bathtubs, safety knobs and orthopedic support equipment, and will be gradually expanded to affect other products for senior citizens.

The three countries also agreed to exchange information between standardization experts in the sector of eco-friendly products, including electric-powered vehicles and energy management systems.
