A U.S. broadcaster says U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Policy Stephen Bosworth will fly to Pyongyang in a military airplane from Osan Air Base in South Korea.
Radio Free Asia cited a diplomatic source in Washington as saying a U.S. delegation led by Bosworth will arrive in Seoul on December 6th and leave for Pyongyang on December 8th.
The delegation will include U.S. special envoy to the six-way nuclear talks Sung Kim and other U.S. State Department officials.
The delegation will return to the air base on December 10th and brief the South Korean government on their North Korean visit before continuing the trip to Japan, China and Russia.
The broadcaster added that traveling via military plane allows for a more flexible schedule depending on the North’s attitude.
According to the Radio Free Asia, the meeting between the United States and North Korea is viewed as a bilateral contact rather than a negotiation.
