The Incheon Metropolitan City government announced that it is seeking to bring a research institute for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (HNHCR) liaison office in Korea to the Incheon Free Economic Zone’s Songdo International City.

The Incheon Metropolitan Government plans to participate in working-level discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) and devise detailed plans in January 2010 to attract the UN agency offices.

The UNDP research institute supports research on poverty reduction in developing nations and issues related to energy and the environment. The UNHCR is an international organization to protect and provide shelter for refugees.
